Reflexology History

Now, most of us already know what it means when we talk about foot reflexology. However, for the benefit of those who don’t realize what pampering the pair of flippers can do for their entire well being, here’s some research on what our ancestors have discovered from ancient time ago.

According to the timeline, foot reflexology dated some 3000 BC back, yes, you didn’t know did you?

3000 BC – Some sources date the origins of massage to China in 3000 BC. It is speculated that the Cong-Fu of the Toa-Tse, which was written during that period, is the first book on massage.

Then Just when we’re thinking foot reflexology is an invention of our brilliant forefathers from china..

2500 BC – Reflexology is practiced in all parts of the world by different cultures. The earliest recorded documentation of reflexology is pictograph 2500 BC – in the Tomb of Akhmahor in Egypt. This pictograph shows a physician working on person’s foot. Reflexology is used as diagnostics tool in Sweden, Denmark and Israel.

Although we do not know specifically where or when reflexology was first practiced, it is thought to have originated in China some 5000 years ago. There is no written history to document the advent of foot reflexology. However, there is a hieroglyphic mural in a pyramid in Saggara, dated 2330 BC, suggesting that reflexology was already part of the Egyptian culture at that time.

Really confusing this history of foot reflexology subject, isn’t it? Well, whatever, whoever, whenever was the origin, it is not as important as realizing the fact that it existed for such a long timeline for a very factual reason. That it works. We humans are no fools.

2000 BC – Reflexology History: The Chinese are said to have used an early form of reflexology more than 5000 years ago in their use of pressure therapies. Egyptian tomb artwork dating from around 2000 BC shows foot massage, which is an indication that the benefits of working on the feet to encourage general good health have been acknowledged for some time.

We, at THE Feet Press will and shall pledge to carry this traditional art form of physical well being onwards. Clean the somewhat tarnished impression of foot massage or whatever form of massage being abused for other ad-hoc unhealthy mix of businesses, modernize it and present it back to you in a whole brand new light!
